Magesh
Dhanasekaran
From the beaches of Marina to the laneways of Melbourne, then the fog of the Bay — every move shaped the person I am. Family first, always. Tamil soul, global citizen.
My background spans security engineering, architecture, and team leadership. I contribute to the OWASP AI Exchange and spoke at RSA Conference 2025.
Currently exploring robotics and physical AI.
One life.
Two worlds.
I grew up in Chennai speaking Tamil, dreaming big. A Master's took me to Melbourne where I built a career, a family, and a home. Then the cloud called louder — and AWS brought me to San Francisco.
Working in cybersecurity since 2006 means I've seen every threat wave — from network perimeters to cloud to now the agentic AI frontier. I don't just defend systems. I think about where the next blind spot is before it becomes a breach.
The Practitioner Path
From the server room to the security architecture board room to the AI frontier. Each step built on the last.
Started where security starts — in the server room. Network security architecture, infrastructure design, vulnerability management, disaster recovery. Built security programs from the ground up. Five years, multiple roles, each one closer to the architecture layer.
Cloud security when "cloud security" was still an oxymoron. Security lead on multi-million-dollar cloud transformations. End-to-end security architecture reviews, threat modeling, security risk assessments. Learned to think in patterns, not products.
Led security architecture teams. Developed and executed 3-year cybersecurity strategy. Made decisions on behalf of the CISO. Learned that security is an organizational problem, not a technical one.
Building AI security agents and security automation at AWS Professional Services. Built a PQC platform for cryptographic asset discovery and migration prioritization. Sharing independent agentic AI security research on this site.
